Overview
Reconectando Igualdad explored how game development could become a practical framework for digital literacy. Instead of treating technology as something to consume, students created, designed and collaborated on real interactive projects.
Challenge
Many educational technology initiatives provide hardware but overlook the cognitive and creative skills needed to turn it into a productive tool. The challenge was to close that gap with a method that motivated students and produced meaningful learning.
Solution
I designed a program that combined research from education and the social sciences with collaborative game design. Students worked in teams to plan and build games, integrating programming, design, storytelling and problem solving along the way.
Outcome
The program generated strong engagement, produced multiple academic publications, and laid the foundations for my research on digital literacy and technology appropriation.
